The first type is the Standard Style Mechanical Tappet. The second type is the Standard Style Hydraulic Tappet. The third type is the Powerglide Hydraulic Tappet and the fourth type is the Hydrosolid Tappet. All assemblies listed are of the Big Axle Roller design. The roller is designed around only three working parts that have been improved for durability and reliability. The Big Axle Tappet has a 27% greater wall that reduces harmonic distortion for better tracking of the cam lobe. In addition, the pin bearings have been reduced in size to increase RPM for more precise tracking around the axle, and the axle itself has been increased in diameter by 36%. The simplicity of this new design is that the axle serves as the inner race, meaning the pin bearings and outer wheel rotate around the axle and not on an inner race, eliminating all possible movement. All tappet assemblies are sold each and include instructions. • The Standard Style Mechanical Tappet Assembly is an excellent choice for OE replacement when used in Panhead 1948/1952 & Ironhead Sportsters and can be used with the OE Style and thread size pushrod adjuster and lock nuts. They can also be used when converting from hydraulic to mechanical (solid) on Panhead 1953/Later and all Shovelheads. • The Standard Style Mechanical Tappet Assembly for Evolution Big Twin and Sportster Evolution 1986/1990 is similar to a hydraulic body, but has a removable seat and must be used with adjustable pushrods. • The Powerglide Hydraulic Tappet Assembly is designed for the performance minded, and is the closest thing to a solid lifter as possible and still remain a hydraulic lifter. It is capable of 8000 RPM. • The Hydrosolid Hydraulic Tappet Assembly is the ultimate high performance/rpm tappet available. The Hydrosolid performs like a hydraulic tappet up to about 5500 RPM, and then turns into a solid tappet. The second it turns into a solid tappet, it adds about three to six more useable horsepower. Hydrosolids will not pump up and allow your valves to hit each other and, can be used with hydraulic type or solid type cams. • The Standard Style Hydraulic Tappet Assembly for Panhead 1953/Later and Shovelhead, all years, is an excellent choice for OE replacement and must be used with the OE style hydraulic tappet insert. Use with the OE style adjustable pushrods.
